Cagayan de Oro is one of the liveliest and most progressive cities of Mindanao. It is the capital city of Misamis Oriental. The city is known as the “City of Golden Friendship” because of the innate friendliness of its people. The tourist and adventurer will not be left wanting in CDO (as it is popularly called) as the city is filled with activities to do and adventures to take part in.

Best Times to Go

While Cagayan de Oro also has a wet season (like the rest of the country), it is fortunate enough to lie outside the typhoon belt so the city is generally saved from ravaging typhoons. Virtually any day of the year is a great day to travel to CDO.

Cagayan de Oro Activities

Cagayan de Oro ranks high among other provinces in terms of the adventure activities it has to offer. One goes to CDO to inject a bit of adventure into their lives. The city itself also has something to offer the not-so-adventurous.  Cagayan de Oro is truly a gem of a city.

Whitewater Rafting

Most people go to CDO for the whitewater rafting. Shoot the rapids and wrestle the waves and whirlpools down the Cagayan de Oro River. A minimum of 6 persons can enjoy a maximum of four hours with 14 rapids.

River Tubing – Half Day

It’s similar to whitewater rafting, but instead of riding a raft and having paddles to navigate, you will be on top of a tube that looks like a lifesaver.

Caving at Kweba de Oro

If spelunking and rappelling are for you, then why not try exploring Kweba de Oro (Cave of Gold) and rappelling down 110 feet to the cave entrance.

Macahambus Adventure Park , Cave and Gorge

The Slide for Life, the park’s 120-meter zip line is a must for visitors. One may also try walking the 120-foot sky bridge for more added thrills.
